Linen Closet Drywalled

The bathroom has been neglected for the most part, but there was some progress made on framing and drywall of the linen closet and hallway coat closet. We've decided to just carpet and install a basic vanity in the master bathroom then come back to the big bathroom after we move in.

Help in an unexpected place

A co-worker/friend of mine, Brian, was kind enough to spend his ENTIRE Saturday at my house painting. Better yet, it was painting the ceiling! I am in debt to him and my nice big brother who also came over.Thank you thank you thank you!

You can't tell from the pics, but the master bedroom paint is done! I kept it really neutral, almost white, probably as a reaction to the pink and purple in the girls rooms.

The Kitchen is Coming Together

In order to make room for the wood floors, Ben and my brother moved some of the cabinets into the kitchen. It was great to get a true idea of the actual layout finally. I've imagined it in my head a thousand times.

Apple Juice?

Why is Ben throwing away all this apple juice? Wait a minute. . . that isn't apple juice. Yuck.

Top priority after the floors are done is to get the new toilets installed!

Ugh, those darn floors

little did I know when I did the sneak peak at the hard wood floors what a mess it would end up being. The floors - after being delivered 10 weeks late, actually had a bad finish on them and had to be returned to the manufacturer. So Ben wasted an entire day getting it all taken care of. In the long run, though, it turned out okay, because the lumber store gave us solid Hickory in an almost identical finish as an even swap - a difference of almost $2.50 per sq ft. Today is day 5 of installing them, and it looks like we'll be able to git r dun.

Sneak Peak at Bamboo Floors

They might actually be installed this week! The density is amazing. However, the planks are all one size with tongue and grove fitting to have to work around. This might be the biggest flooring challenge Ben has ever dealt with. But they are all delivered, ready to go, and beautiful.

Kitchen Layout Con't

Kitchen Floor Plan

a. Built in breakfast nook (imagine a table in front) b. cabinets under backyard windows c. double oven and cook range

Fridge, microwave (West Wall)

Kitchen and Dining Room Chandeliers

Picking this stuff out is fun yet tough. I hope it all matches and works well together! Martha Stewart has made me anxious. My plan is to only shop from places with a good return policy, because who knows what all this will look like actually installed!

This one is for the kitchen, over the island (2) and another over the breakfast nook.

And I think this is the chandelier I bought for the dining room. I am going all modern, because of the house style, but then I am sort of nautical up above.

The Front Room is Close!

This weekend, while Ben was stuck in drywall hell, I painted the front room blue. The two different colors, because the shades are soooo close, especially when the paint it wet, made for a couple mistakes from helpers and re-do's. But I was so glad for the help - including from the paint police, aka my husband.

E's Room

I spent 50% of my night last night repainting E's room. I wish I had of gone with the pretty pale yellow that is in her room now. I doodled on her wall, and instead of pretty flowers, it looks more like jelly fish. Blah. Oh well, I'll have to repaint it later.

Fruits of Labor on 4th of July Weekend

Originally I thought we'd be moving in this weekend. It was a hard pill to swallow seeing how much further we have to go. This weeks mantra will be: Be Patient, Be Patient, Be Patient

We are working on the dry wall.
